Pardee Homes Helps Kick Off the Season at West Hill Little League’s Opening Day

SANTEE, CA (February 26, 2018) – The 2018 West Hills Little League season kicked off Saturday, February 24 with a fun opening day event, including a $2,000 check presentation from Pardee Homes. For the second year in a row, Pardee Homes joined players, families, community members and league leadership at West Hills Park in Santee for the opening ceremonies. Pardee Homes’ contribution will help fund league operations, including equipment, uniforms and field enhancements as well as help to cover membership fees for families in need of assistance.

“As members of the Santee community, we are excited to join the West Hills Little League again for this annual event” said Jimmy Ayala, division president of Pardee Homes San Diego. “We are honored to invest in Santee’s youth programs through this renewed sponsorship to the League.”

 “Pardee’s renewed commitment has a significant impact on Santee youth sports and our entire community,” said Ken Robak, president of West Hills Little League and Executive Vice President of Pacific Coast Commercial. “We are thankful for this contribution and partnership, which allows us to focus on citizenship, teamwork and physical well-being, all of which are key values that we proudly teach our kids.”

 In its 45th year in operation, the League’s opening day festivities are an ongoing tradition shared by volunteers and members, including 359 children participating this year on 31 teams. Participants were treated to a keynote address delivered by east county native and former Major League Baseball (MLB) player, Brett Boone. Boone, a three-time All Star, played for several MLB teams including the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres.

 The event also recognizes last season’s Tournament of Champions and All Star Teams. There are more than a dozen individual baseball games played throughout the day, as well as various activities and community booths.
